Packaging development

More environmental and climate protection through a more careful use of natural resources is one of the top issues when it comes to the packaging of consumer goods. Manufacturers, packaging specialists and retailers want more sustainable packaging and are therefore working intensively on the complex task of developing packaging that is not only reliable and attractive, but also more sustainable. The daily challenge of our packaging development is how to systematically achieve packaging that meets all the requirements for product protection, machine compatibility, hygiene and convenience while at the same time protecting the climate and conserving resources. We support you in the design of future-proof primary and secondary packaging. We have the necessary tools at our disposal at every stage of development.

Packaging design

Customized design

Product and packaging design are often the first communication with the consumer, so high demands are placed on new packaging. We develop packaging that is sensibly designed and therefore intuitive to use. In the development and design processes, our product designers primarily pursue the goal of designing plastic products in such a way that they can be used by as many people as possible without instructions. The design is primarily based on the needs of the user. This results in aesthetic solutions that combine innovative technologies, good design and a high level of user-friendliness.

Your benefits at a glance:

  • Our designers develop new product ideas or optimizations on request.
  • In combination with rapid prototyping and rapid tooling, we create clear design, functional and test samples quickly and cost-effectively.

Packaging development according to eco-design specifications

Three "R" stand for the sustainable use of resources. The keywords „Reduce“, „Reuse“ and „Recycle“ are the basis for our product development.

Reduce

Reducing the use of materials through resource-saving concepts and efficient production processes. With T-IML, the use of materials is reduced to a minimum.

Reuse

Development of reusable catering and gastronomy packaging. One example is our reusable popcorn cups, a real alternative to disposable paper packaging.

Recycle

Closing the recycling loop with packaging made from post-consumer recycled material - and our PÖPPELMANN blue® initiative.

Faster to series production with rapid prototyping

We have been working with rapid prototyping in our company for many years. If required, we develop more than just a view drawing or a rendering. If required, we can create a prototype within hours, which you can touch, test and evaluate. We use our 3D printers for this purpose, for example. These produce prototypes from different materials.

Turning ideas into packaging in the shortest possible time:

  • Design and functional samples made from different materials.
  • 1K and 2K applications.
  • Transparent or colored.
  • Products without special tools.

Faster to series maturity

If simple injection molded or thermoformed articles are required in small quantities and a tool is not available, we can print a corresponding tool insert. We can use injection molding machines and thermoforming machines to produce the articles.

Our production technologies.

Technologies should not only be known, but also known and understood.

We do not shy away from challenges and are always breaking new ground together with you: with the help of our own moldmaking department, state-of-the-art injection molding machines, various technologies such as 2K injection molding or MuCell®.

What do we mean by
future-proof packaging?

The EU Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) sets out the framework conditions for how packaging should be designed in the future. Unnecessary packaging and packaging waste should be reduced and reusable systems and recycling should be promoted. In our opinion, plastic packaging meets precisely these requirements, as plastic is more efficient than alternative materials.

Mainly less plastic?

Plastic is more efficient than alternative materials.

On the
The wrong track?

PPWR is driving deforestation and the growth of waste mountains.

Minimum recyclate usage?

100% in unregulated sectors (e.g. nonfood) creates incentives for investment in mechanical recycling.

Design For
Recycling?

Recyclability and the use of recyclates are the basis for a functioning circular economy.
